All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.

[10/01/2025] “The Prayer, the Prayer…” – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– The command of the prayer upon the believer.
– The Prophet ‎ﷺ advised with the five daily prayers.
– The prayer is the connection between a person and their Lord.
– The main pillar of Islām that the believers will be questioned about.
– The condition of the believer’s prayer will be an indication of how their questioning will be.
– The importance of the prayer as the Prophet ‎ﷺ on his deathbed was reminding and repeating – “…The Prayer, the Prayer…”
– Ahādith regarding the distinction between a believer and disbeliever is the prayer.
– Whoever preserves the prayer in this life it will be a salvation for them in the afterlife.
– “Pray as you have seen me pray”
– Allah says: Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours. Surah Nisa (4): 103
– Even in times of battle the prayer should be established, so consider its importance in other times.
– Explanation of the times of the Five Daily Prayers.
– There must be a legislated reason for removing the prayer from its time into another prayers time such as praying dhuhr at asr time.
– Admonishment for the Imams of the masjid who hasten to combine prayers at a light rainfall.
