[26/04/2024] The Evil Effects of Bid’ah – Taken from the Sayings of the Salaf – By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wāḥid حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
- The greatest affair that causes division in the ummah of Muḥammad ﷺ.
- The end result of introducing things into Islām.
- Innovations in the political arena that are rejected by Allāh.
- Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) on the Sunnah being lost and abandoned due to hearts becoming busy with bid’ah.
- The justice of Ahl al-Ḥadīth.
- Imām ash-Shāṭibī (رحمه الله) on the destructive outcome of giving life to innovations.
- Statements from ‘Abdullāh b. ‘Abbās (رضى الله عنهما), Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī and Ḥassān b. ‘Aṭiyyah (رحمهم الله) regarding the removal of the Sunnah due to following bid’ah.
- Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) on the extreme extent of where bid’ah takes those who are deceived by Shayṭān.
- Shaykh al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) on how bid’ah causes the people to return to the ideas of Jāhiliyyah.
