Part One-

  • The foundation of all calamities and hardships.
  • The clash between fitnah and Tawḥīd.

  • Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the four pillars of disbelief, and how to combat each one.

  • An example of the justice with which the Muslims speak about the Jews and Christians.
  • The reason the Chinese king did not aid the Persian king (who was defeated in the Battle of Nahawand) against the Muslims. 

Part Two –

  • The reason there is no ru’b in the hearts of the non-Muslims for the Muslims.
  • Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on Tawḥīd being a sanctuary/place of refuge for both the enemies and allies of Allāh.
  • Scenarios that highlight how Tawḥīd delivers from calamities:
  • 1. Prophet Yūnus (عليه السلام) when he was in the belly of the whale.
  • Ibn al-Qayyim  (رحمه الله) on the du’ā of Yūnus (عليه السلام) being the most effective means of reaching Allāh for one’s needs.
  • The four points of tawassul in this du’ā.
  • 2. The sign of Prophet Hūd (عليه السلام).
  • The call of Hūd (عليه السلام) and his people’s response to him.
  • Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the sign of Hūd (عليه السلام) being the most obscure/hidden of the signs of the Messengers.
  • The point of dispute between Hūd عليه السلام) and his people.
  • 3. Prophet Yūsuf (عليه السلام) when he was unjustly imprisoned.
  • The amazing manhaj of da’wah implemented by Yūsuf (عليه السلام) while he was imprisoned.
  • An example from the Sunnah which demonstrates that even in dire circumstances the people of Tawḥīd do not abandon Tawḥīd.
  • 4. The People of the Cave.
  • The story of the people of the cave.
  • 5. The hijrah of the Prophet ﷺ and Abū Bakr (رضى الله عنه) when they were hiding in the cave.
  • Benefits from the āyah, “If you help him (Muḥammad ) not (it does not matter), for Allāh did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of two, when they (Muḥammad and Abū Bakr) were in the cave, and he () said to his companion (Abū Bakr): ‘Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allāh is with us.” Then Allāh sent down His Sakīnah (calmness, tranquillity, peace, etc.) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while it was the Word of Allāh that became the uppermost, and Allāh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” [Sūrah at-Tawbah 9:40]
  • Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the virtue of sakīnah.
  • Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the mighty effect of the āyāt regarding sakīnah.
  • 6. The approach of the Mongols in the time of Ibn Taymiyyah.
  • The trial of grave-worship in that time.
  • The reason Ibn Taymiyyah and others decided not to fight but focus on teaching the people.
  • The tremendous aid and victory that came after the people rectified their affairs and correctly established Tawḥīd.
  • Eight reasons why truthfulness is the foundation of every good deed and lying is the foundation of every evil deed.
