• Ten ways in which Ahlus-Sunnah distinguish themselves from the people of innovation and desires:
• 1. They strive to learn the Islamic legislative knowledge.
• A sign that Allāh is pleased with a servant.
• That which Ahlus-Sunnah busy themselves with vs the partisan groups.
• 2. They gather between knowledge and action.
• Following the Qur’ān and Sunnah, and preceding speech and action with knowledge.
• 3. They do not put forth the speech of anyone before the Book of Allāh and statements of the Messenger ﷺ.
• Imām Aḥmad’s (رحمه الله) amazement at those who leave authentic aḥādīth for the opinions of men.
• A warning against opposing the Messenger ﷺ.
• Seeking proof in all affairs.
• 4. Their ‘Aqīdah is one, regardless of time or place.
• Statements from Imām as-Sam’ānī and Imām al-Bukhārī (رحمهم الله) highlighting the consensus of Ahlus-Sunnah upon the correct ‘Aqīdah.
• 5. They are distinct from Ahlul-Bid’ah.
• The example of the early Khawārij who were distinct in shaving their heads.
• The reason we do not sit with Ahlul-Bid’ah.
• How the Salaf protected their ranks from the people of fitnah and desires.
• The example of how ‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb (رضى الله عنه) dealt with Ṣabīgh b. ’Isl who used to cause doubts and confusion regarding verses of the Qur’ān. 
• Ahlul-Bid’ah’s love for fitnah and how they take advantage of people’s weakness.
• 6. They know the truth and are merciful with the creation.
• The great blessing of being guided to Islām and the Sunnah.
• Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) on the mercy of Ahlus-Sunnah towards Ahlul-Bid’ah when they refute them.
• The mercy Ahlus-Sunnah should have with each other.
• 7. Their foundations are established after analysing the evidences.
• The way of Ahlul-Bid’ah in establishing their belief and then looking for proof to support it.
• Ahlus-Sunnah’s affirmation of whatever comes to them from the Book of Allāh and Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ regarding the Attributes of Allāh.
• 8. They gather the texts regarding a matter.
• The deviation of the Khawārij who concentrate on fear and the Murji’ah who concentrate on hope.
• 9. They are firmly established upon the dīn without instability.
• 10. They are patient upon the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
• The enduring patience of Ahlus-Sunnah.
