All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[08/12/2023] Remaining Steadfast in Times of Prosperity and Adversity – By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
- The great difficulty of holding on to one’s dīn in latter times.
- Reminding ourselves of the verse, “Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, ‘When (will come) the Help of Allāh?’ Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allāh is near!” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:214]
- The amazing affair of the believer.
- The two scenarios a believer finds himself in, and what is upon him in each situation.
- Ibn Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) on the two things īmān entails.
- Thanking Allāh for being guided to the dīn and understanding these principles.
- Having good thoughts of Allāh.
- Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) on the mindset we should have regarding calamities.
- The only means of attaining true honour.
