All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[25/12/2020] No Food in The House of The Messenger ﷺ For Days on End – Jumu’ah Khutbah – Winter Conference 2020.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– Reflecting upon the little the Messenger ﷺ possessed from this world despite him being the most honourable of mankind.
– Following the example of the Messenger ﷺ in being the first one to act with kindness.
– Proof of the insignificance of this dunyā to Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى).
– ‘Ā’ishah (رضى الله عنها) on there being no food in the house of the Messenger ﷺ for months.
– Proof that hosting guests is from the means that will bring about the mercy of Allāh.
– The eagerness of the Companions to do good.
– Abū and Umm Ṭalḥah’s (رضى الله عنهما) hosting of the guest of the Messenger ﷺ despite them having very little.
– A characteristic of the righteous wife.
– Looking after our guests and not making them feel uncomfortable.
– Reflecting upon the sacrifices made by the Companions, and asking ourselves how much are we sacrificing.
– A call to share what Allāh has blessed us with.
– Allāh’s approval of the actions of Abū and Umm Ṭalḥah.
– The revelation of the verse, “…and give them preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful.” [Sūrah al-Ḥashr 59:9]
