All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[12/01/2024] Muṣ’ab b. ‘Umayr رضي الله عنه – The Hero of Islām Who Sacrificed it All – By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
- A description of the luxurious, pampered life of Muṣ’ab b. ‘Umayr (رضى الله عنه) before he embraced Islām.
- The relationship between him and his mother.
- The punishment and trials endured by Muṣ’ab after his mother learnt of his Islām.
- The change in their relationship, and her response when he called her to Islām.
- The title given to Muṣ’ab.
- Proof that he was a truthful and sincere caller to Allāh.
- Reflecting upon the calibre of those who embraced Islām upon his hands.
- The reason the Messenger ﷺ cried when he looked at Muṣ’ab.
- Muṣ’ab’s firm determination not to drop the flag of the Muslims on the Day of Uḥud despite losing his limbs.
- The āyah the Prophet ﷺ recited when he looked at the martyrs on the Day of Uḥud.
- The reason ‘Abdur-Raḥmān b. ‘Awf cried when he reflected upon Muṣ’ab and Ḥamzah (رضى الله عنهم).
- Appreciating the sacrifices of the Ṣaḥābah and not taking Islām for granted.
- Ibn Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) on the those harmed in the ākhirah vs those harmed in the dunyā.
