[12/01/2024] Lesson 8: The Right of The Prophet ﷺ – Respecting the Prophet ﷺ During his Lifetime and After his Death – By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Weekly lesson at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this lesson:
- The second matter: A mention of some instances of revering and respecting the Prophet ﷺ in his lifetime [cont’d].
- ‘Umar’s (رضى الله عنه) rebuke of two individuals who were raising their voices in the masjid of the Prophet ﷺ.
- Allāh’s disparagement of those who called out to the Messenger ﷺ by his name.
- The third matter: Showing respect, honour and reverence to the Prophet ﷺ after his death.
- The requirement to revere and respect the Messenger ﷺ by way of the heart, statements of the tongue and actions of the limbs, and how this is carried out.
- Tremendous words from Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) regarding the reason for happiness and bliss in the dunyā and ākhirah, and the reason for all evil in the dunyā and ākhirah.
- The fortress of obedience to the Messenger ﷺ.
- The fourth matter: Examples from the Salaf, the Companions, the Tābi’īn and those who followed them.
- 1. How Abū Bakr (رضى الله عنه) dealt with those who refused to give zakāh after the death of the Prophet ﷺ.
- The reason Abū Bakr (رضى الله عنه) staunchly adhered to the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
- Abū Bakr’s (رضى الله عنه) fear of speaking about the Book of Allāh without knowledge.
- Understanding the heavy responsibility of speaking about Allāh, His religion and His Messenger ﷺ.
