[15/12/2023] Lesson 5: The Right of The Prophet ﷺ – Imāms of the Salaf Regarding Al-Ittibā’ – By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Weekly lesson at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this lesson:
- The third matter: Quotes of the Imāms of the Salaf combating that which opposes al-Ittiba’ [cont’d].
- A warning from Sahl b. ‘Abdillāh at-Tustarī (رحمه الله) regarding a time when the people will flee from the one clinging to the Sunnah; and his speech regarding being questioned on the Day of Judgement for introducing anything into knowledge.
- Imām ‘Uthmān b. Sa’īd ad-Dārimī (رحمه الله) on [true] knowledge, and its condition.
- A beautiful explanation from Shaykh Rabī (حفظه الله) regarding what constitutes beneficial knowledge.
- Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Qudāmah (رحمه الله) on the obligation of following the straight path the Messenger ﷺ was upon.
- Abūl-‘Āliyah (رحمه الله) on the verse, “Guide us to the straight path.” [Sūrah al-Fātiḥah 1:6]
- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the obligation of having knowledge and awareness of the guidance of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, and our need for that being greater than every other necessity.
- The three categories of people in this regard.
