All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.

- Qatādah and Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمهم الله) on the āyah, “Evil has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned, that Allāh may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return.” [Sūrah ar-Rūm 30:41]
- Reflecting upon this āyah in light of what is going on in the world today.
- Ibn Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) and Qatādah (رحمه الله) on the āyah, “And if Allāh were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving (living) creature on the surface of the earth, but He gives them respite to an appointed term, and when their term comes, then verily, Allāh is Ever All-Seer of His slaves.” [Sūrah Fāṭir 35:45]
