All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.

[08/04/2024] Combining Between Fear & Hope – Welcoming Ramaḍān – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khutbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khutbah:

• Benefits regarding the characteristics of the believer from the verses, “Verily, those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; and those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; and those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; and those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear, because they are sure to return to their Lord. It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them.” [Sūrah al-Mu’minūn 23:57-62]
• The response of the Messenger ﷺ when ‘Ā’ishah (رضى الله عنها) sought clarification regarding those mentioned in the verse, “And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear, because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).” [Sūrah al-Mu’minūn 23:60]
• Combining between khawf and rajā’ when performing good deeds. 
• The way of the believers when they fall into sin or fall short. 
• Striving to perform righteous deeds and hoping for Allāh’s Forgiveness. 
• The only thing we will have in our favour when we return to Allāh. 
• The Mercy of Allāh in facilitating ease for us in performing good deeds in the month of Ramaḍān. 
• The obligation of abandoning sin, just as we abandon food and drink in Ramaḍān.
