[23/05/2025] The Virtues of the First Ten Days of Dhul Ḥijjah – By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wāḥid حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The best days of the year.
– “…and mention the name of Allāh on known days…” [Sūrah al-Hajj 22:28]
– “And remember Allāh during [specific] numbered days…” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:203]
– The meaning of the aforementioned verses.
– The importance of familiarising ourselves and our families with the lunar calendar and not detaching ourselves from the Islamic heritage.
– The four days of ‘Eid.
– Following the example of the Companions (رضى الله عنهم) in being plentiful in vocalising the takbīr in these ten days.
– Proof that the Prophet ﷺ fasted the [first] nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, and a doubt answered by Imām ash-Shawkānī (رحمه الله) in this regard.
– The tremendous virtues of the Day of ‘Arafah.
– The hardships of performing Hajj.
– Allāh’s boasting to His angels on the Day of ‘Arafah.
– That which is legislated for non-pilgrims to do on the Day of ‘Arafah.
– The reasons pilgrims do not fast on the Day of ‘Arafah.
– The best supplication to be said on the Day of ‘Arafah.
– Prohibited actions for the one who intends to sacrifice.
– The Udhiyyah is an established sunnah that should not be left.
– Strong words from Shaykh al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) regarding sending money to charitable organisations to slaughter animals in other countries.
