[04/11/2025] Beware of the Trials of Doubts and Desires – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– “And fear the Fitnah (affliction and trial) which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong (but it may afflict all the good and the bad people), and know that Allāh is Severe in punishment.” [Sūrah al-Anfāl 8:25]
– The two main ways in which fitan come.
– The fitnah of shubuhāt (doubts that afflict the hearts).
– How shaytān deceives those who ascribe to Islām into worshipping other than Allāh.
– The Prophet’s ﷺ vehement warning against innovation.
– The hatred of the people of innovation and superstitious beliefs for the people of the Sunnah.
– Holding on to the Sunnah and not being shy to speak the truth and defend the Sunnah.
– Characteristics of the Strangers.
– Two main characteristics the people of Truth should clothe themselves with.
– The fitnah of shahawāt (desires the souls pursue).
– Trials of the private parts, stomachs, wealth and leadership.
– Humility and not desiring to be known.
