All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[25/05/2025] The Sincere Intention and Its Reward – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The importance of having correct, sound intention and being sincere to Allāh.
– Fuḍayl b. ‘Iyāḍ (رحمه الله) on what constitutes shirk, riyā and ikhlāṣ.
– The one truly upon sincerity in worship.
– “Say (O Muḥammad ﷺ): ‘Verily, my Ṣalāh (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allāh, the Lord of the ‘Ālamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:169]
– The path to success, happiness and salvation.
– “Say, (O Muḥammad ﷺ), ‘Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion.” [Sūrah az-Zumar 39:11]
– ‘Abdullāh b. Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) on what is necessary for statements, actions and intentions to be of benefit.
– Ibn al-Jawzī (رحمه الله) on mankind’s inclination for wanting their deeds to be apparent/known.
– The reason the great imāms of Ḥadīth began their books with the ḥadīth of intention.
– Sufyān ath-Thawrī (رحمه الله) on the difficulty of dealing with one’s intention.
– “And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.” [Sūrah al-Furqān 25:23]
– The deeds that require ikhlāṣ.
– Aḥādīth that illustrate the Generosity of Allāh and the weightiness of sincere intention.
– The Messenger ﷺ on the four types of people in the world.
