All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[23/02/2024] The Fruits of Emulating the Messenger ﷺ – By Uways At-Ṭaweel حفظه الله. Masjid As-Sunnah, Bradford, UK.
Some points discussed during this lesson:
- Seven virtues of obeying and emulating the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ:
- 1. Achieving the Love of Allāh
- The means of attaining the Love of Allāh.
- 2. Achieving the Ma’iyyah of Allāh
- The example of Abū Bakr (رضى الله عنه) in how following the Messenger ﷺ brings aid and victory from Allāh.
- Understanding that there is no sadness for the one whom Allāh is with and there is no happiness for the one He has left.
- Sufyān ath-Thawrī (رحمه الله) on how strictly we should adhere to the narrations.
- 3. Acceptance of One’s Du’ā
- A ḥadīth that mentions these three virtues.
- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on the only path to true happiness and success in this world and the next.
- Imām Aḥmad (رحمه الله) on acting upon the aḥādīth he wrote.
- The importance of writing.
- 4. Protection from Falling into Innovation
- The care the Messenger ﷺ had for his ummah.
- The destructive outcome of opposing Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى) and His Messenger ﷺ.
- Abū ‘Uthmān an-Naysābūrī (رحمه الله) on the one who speaks with wisdom and the one who speaks with bid’ah.
- 5. Being Saved from Regret on the Day of Judgement
- Those who will regret not following the Messenger ﷺ.
- A frightening verse from Sūrah al-Furqān regarding the one who will bite at his hands on the Day of Judgment, and the reason for its revelation.
- The importance of paying attention to who we take as companions.
- Imām Aḥmad (رحمه الله) on how to determine the religiosity of a person.
- A warning against following unknown individuals and people of innovation on social media.
- 6. Bliss and Happiness
- Three blessings Allāh gave to the Messenger ﷺ mentioned in Sūrah ash-Sharḥ.
- Allāh’s fulfilment of His promise.
- Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) on those who have the most expansive hearts.
- Analysing our following of the Messenger ﷺ when we feel restriction in our chests and burden in our daily affairs.
- 7. It Is a Sign of One’s Love for the Messenger
- The date-palm tree that cried out of yearning for the Messenger ﷺ.
- Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) on yearning for the Messenger ﷺ [i.e. to follow him].
