All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[12/12/2025] Beware for Indeed the Dunyā is the Intoxicant of the Shaytān – Sh Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The need for us to reflect upon the reality of death.
– “No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die.“ [Surah Luqmān 31:34]
– “Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.” [Sūrah al-‘Ankabūt 29:57]
– “Say: ‘Indeed, the death from which you flee, then it will certainly meet you.’” [Sūrah al-Jumu’ah 62:8]
– “Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!” [Surah an-Nisā 4:78]
– “The mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things) diverts you. Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die). Nay! You shall come to know!” [at-Takāthur 102:1-3]
– Visiting the graves in order to reflect upon death.
– “Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly! To Allāh we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.’” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:156]
– The reality of this du’ā at the time of death.
– The Messenger ﷺ on the one who is the most wise/smart.
– “Verily, those who say: ‘Our Lord is Allāh (Alone),’ and then they remain steadfast, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): ‘Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!” [Sūrah Fussilat 41:30]
– Fighting back against our open enemy.
– The sermon Shaytān will deliver to those who followed him.
– Yahyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the intoxication of the dunyā and the point at which the intoxicated one will regain consciousness.
