All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[25/07/2025] “Say, I Believe in Allāh and Then Remain Upright” – Shaykh Abu Zayd Khālid حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
- Sufyan bin ‘Abdillāh al-Thaqafī رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Say, ‘I believe in Allāh’ and then remain upright.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim].
- The commentary of Imām Al-Sa’dī رحمه الله upon this narration.
- Belief in the branches of Imān.
- Actions of the heart.
- Knowledge precedes speech and action.
- The fruits of knowledge and correct intention.
- The fruits of knowledge and awareness of Tawḥīd.
- How knowledge leads to the actions of the heart.
- Al-Isti’ādhah, seeking refuge in Allāh from anything that may cause harm.
- Seeking refuge in Allāh after the prayers, throughout the day and night.
- The understanding of “then remain upright”.
- Al-‘Allāmah ‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله and his example of remaining upright.
- {Those who say, “Allāh is our Lord…”}
- The statement of the Angels, “Do not fear and do not worry…”
- The promise of Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ.
