All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[08/08/2025] Indeed, the Hearing, the Sight and the Heart – About All Those [One] Will Be Questioned – Khuṭbah by Shaykh Uways At-Ṭaweel حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– Qatādah (رحمه الله) on the verse, “And Allāh has brought you out from the wombs of your mothers while you know nothing. And He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts that you might give thanks (to Allāh).” [Sūrah an-Nahl 16:78]
– Abū ad-Dardā (رضى الله عنه) on the verse, “And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?” [Sūrah adh-Dhāriyāt 51:21]
– “And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.” [Sūrah al-Isrā’ 17:36]
– A warning against using these blessings for other than what they were created for.
– Shaykh as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “It is those who believe and confuse not their belief with zulm, for them (only) there is security and they are the guided.” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:82]
– Taking ourselves to account before we are taken to account.
– The reason for the revelation of the verse, “Say (O Muḥammad ﷺ to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allāh then follow me, Allāh will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’” [Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3:31]
– Loving and hating for the Sake of Allāh.
– The meeting between Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī (رحمه الله) and Mu’ādh b. Jabal (رضى الله عنه), and the great station of loving for the Sake of Allāh.
– The outcome on the Day of Judgement for those who loved each other for other than the Sake of Allāh.
– Al-Junayd (رحمه الله) on the reality of gratitude.
– Abū Hāzim Salamah b. Dīnār (رحمه الله) on the blessing that becomes a calamity.
– Shaykh as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the reason why the hearing, sight and heart are frequently mentioned together in the Qur’ān.
– ‘Abdullāh b. Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) on the reality of knowledge.
– The loftiness of knowledge and our dire need for it.
– Hudhayfah (رضى الله عنه) on the four types of hearts.
– ‘Abdullāh b. Mas’ūd (رضى الله عنه) on the light of knowledge.
