All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[03/10/2025] Advice and Warning to Those Who Find it Difficult to Practice Their Religion – Sh Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– A heavy topic that should strengthen our resolve to be better Muslims.
– Five instances when the people will regret and beg Allāh to be returned to the dunyā:
– 1. At the approach of death
– “And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.’ But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Acquainted with what you do.” [Sūrah al-Munafiqūn 63:10-11]
– “Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allāh), he says, ‘My Lord! Send me back, so that I may do good in that which I have left behind!’ No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.” [Sūrah al-Mu’minūn 23:99-100]
– 2. When they see the punishment on the Day of Judgement
– “And warn (O Muḥammad ﷺ) mankind of the Day when the torment will come unto them; then the wrong-doers will say, ‘Our Lord! Respite us for a little while, we will answer Your Call and follow the Messengers!’ (It will be said), ‘Had you not sworn aforetime that you would not leave (the world for the Hereafter).’” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm 14:44]
– 3. When they are brought to the Fire
– “If you could but see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say, ‘Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the āyāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.) of our Lord, and we would be of the believers!’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:27]
– “Then (again) you will surely see it (in front of you) with the eye of (absolute) certainty.” [Sūrah at-Takāthur 102:7]
– 4. When they are brought in front of Rabbul-‘Ālamīn
– “And if you only could see when the Mujrimūn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying), ‘Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world), we will do righteous good deeds. Verily! We now believe with certainty.’” [Sūrah as-Sajdah 32:12]
– “If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say, ‘Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?’ They will say, ‘Yes, by our Lord!’ He will then say, ‘So taste you the torment because you used to disbelieve.’” [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:30]
– 5. In the depths of the Hellfire
– “Therein they will cry, ‘Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do.’ (Allāh will reply), ‘Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition, could receive it? And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds). For the Ẓalimūn (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.) there is no helper.” [Sūrah Fāṭir 35:37]
– The meaning of يَصْطَرِخُون.
– Qatādah (رحمه الله) on the sole reason we will wish to return to the dunyā.
– “Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, ‘O, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it,’ while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear. And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allāh, so will you not reason? [Sūrah al-An’ām 6:31-32]
