All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[01/08/2025] Desiring the Hereafter Necessitates Abstinence from the Life of the World – By Shaykh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The reality of the dunyā and how we should view it in relation to the ākhirah.
– The necessity of abandoning the dunyā for the one who truly desires the ākhirah.
– Two affairs the slave must ponder upon in order to establish zuhd.
– The nature of the dunyā.
– The consequences of greedily striving for the dunyā.
– The nearness of the ākhirah.
– The ākhirah in comparison to the dunyā.
– That which is necessitated by sound intellect.
– The trials and temptations of the dunyā.
– The reasons why a person would choose the dunyā over the ākhirah.
– How the Messenger ﷺ and his Companions (رضى الله عنهم) viewed the dunyā.
– “Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the āyāt in detail for the people who reflect. Allāh calls to the home of peace and guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.” [Sūrah Yūnus 10:24-25]
