All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[09/05/2025] The Believer and the Love of Allāh – Abū Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– Reflecting upon the passage of time and preparing for the inevitable meeting with Allāh.
– Affairs that bring about the love of Allāh.
– Reciting the Book of Allāh with contemplation and understanding.
– Diligence in worship.
– Inculcating the characteristic of taqwā within ourselves.
– Seeking nearness to Allāh by purifying our hearts, wealth, garments etc.
– Striving to perform the supererogatory acts.
– Remembering Allāh in every situation.
– Loving what Allāh loves and hating what He hates.
– Reflecting upon the Names, Attributes and Actions of Allāh.
– Accompanying those who recite and act upon the Book of Allāh and constantly remember Him.
– “Say (O Muḥammad ﷺ to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allāh then follow me, Allāh will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’” [Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān 3:31]
– Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the status of ṣabr with Allāh.
– Secluding oneself with Allāh, particularly in the last third of the night.
– Removing all barriers/obstacles that may come between a person and Allāh.
– Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “O you who believe! Answer Allāh (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he (ﷺ) calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allāh comes in between a person and his heart. And verily to Him you shall (all) be gathered.” [Sūrah al-Anfāl 8:24]
– The reality of the heart and how it changes.
– Two supplications we should be plentiful in saying.
– The manner in which we should worship Allāh.
