All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.
[27/06/2025] You Have One Chance to Cultivate Your Children – Get it Right! – By Abu Khadeejah ‘Abdul Wāḥid حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The command for parents to cultivate their children upon what will benefit them in this world and the hereafter.
– Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān’s (حفظه الله) address to the Muslim youth.
– Examples of the great emphasis the Messenger ﷺ placed on cultivating and guiding the youth.
– The immense trust placed upon the shoulders of the parents regarding their children.
– The reason we are instructed to command our children to pray at the age of seven, and what this entails.
– “Verily, aṣ-Ṣalāh (the prayer) prevents from al-Faḥshā’ and al-Munkar…” [Sūrah al-‘Ankabūt 29:45]
– The necessity of being good role models for our children and rectifying our homes.
– A warning against giving the kuffār authority over our children.
– Caution against introducing anything into the home that will become a means of misguidance for our children.
– The reality that Muslim children are leaving Islām, and the reason for this.
– “And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in faith, We will join their offspring with them, and We will not decrease the (reward) for their deeds in anything. Every person is held in pledge (only) for that which he (or she) has earned.” [Sūrah aṭ-Ṭūr 52:21]
– Following the way of the Salaf in striving and sacrificing in order to cultivate our children upon Islām and the Sunnah.
– The means utilised by those who live just for this world to corrupt our children and take them away from the dīn of Allāh.
– Being vigilant and giving precedence to the ākhirah over the dunyā.
