[28/06/2024] “None of You Should Wish for Death!” – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– {Indeed the death from which you flee will surely meet you. Then you will be sent back to the Knower of the Unseen and He will inform you about what you used to do} [Surah Al-Jumu’ah: 8]
– This life is a test for those whom Allāh loves.
– Trials are not a test merely for those who are disobedient.
– Whoever Allāh wants good for, He puts them to trial.
– How should a believer be during the times of being tested and trialled?
– The believer should not desire death due to trials they are facing.
– This life is the means to attain the greatest goal – Jannah.
– The believer should be patient and seek reward during trials.
– Who are the best amongst the people?
– Who are the most evil and wicked of the people?
– Narration of the one who died a year later than a martyr, yet he entered Paradise before the martyr.
– Don’t ask for death during calamities.
– The life span of a believer doesn’t increase him in anything except for good.
– Story of Khabbāb ibn Al-Arat رضي الله عنه and his trials.
– Khabbāb رضي الله عنه asking the Prophet ﷺ to make du’ā for them during the persecution of the Muslims in Makkah.
