[16/01/2026] Mocking the Believers is Unbelief – Sh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.
Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:
– The characteristics of the believers and disbelievers.
– Some of the characteristics of the believers: īmān, patience, truthfulness, and having reliance upon Allah.
– Some of the characteristics of the disbelievers: disbelief, arrogance, lying, and rejection of the truth.
– These characteristics should not be found in the believers.
– The story in Sūrah al-Burūj describing the enmity between the disbelievers and believers.
– The disbelievers’ manifestation of their hatred towards the believers is mocking and ridiculing them.
– And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. [Sūrah az-Zukhruf (43): 6–7]
– The disbelievers do not have the truth with them, so they mock the believers to divert them away from the truth.
– Examples of the Prophets Nūḥ and Mūsā and how they were mocked.
– The worst of the disbelievers are the hypocrites.
– Examples of the actions and sayings of the hypocrites from the Qur’an.
– The severity of mocking in Islam. Mocking the believer is mocking the One who has commanded them with the affair.
– An example of mocking that occurred at the Battle of Tabūk.
