[15/11/2024] How to Attain Salvation – By Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– The Believer knows the time on this earth is precious and the meeting with His Lord is close.
– The Believer strives for His Pleasure and avoids His Displeasure.
– The Believer turns to Allah swiftly, is remorseful, and weeps over his sins.
– Story of ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir when he asked: “What is Salvation and how can I attain it?”
– Advice from Prophet ‎ﷺ
1. Guard your tongue
2. Cling to your home
3. Weep over your sins
– {When the Verses of the Most Beneficent (Allah) were recited unto them, they fell down prostrating and weeping} [Surah Al-Maryam (19): 58].
– The characteristic of a believer is that they weep with real tears when they have disobeyed Allah.
– The meaning of salvation
– The Messenger’s ‎ﷺ farewell advice to his Companions that caused their eyes to shed tears and their hearts to tremble.
– Weeping is an essential trait for the believer in his journey to Allah.
– Statement of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab ‎رضي الله عنه regarding taking oneself into account before you are brought to account.
– Ahādīth mentioning the rewards and virtues of the one who remembers Allah and weeps over his sins.
– Examples of the Prophet ﷺ crying and the description of his crying.
