The Correlation of the Qur’ān and the month of Ramaḍān – Sh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb

Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation—and may He extol the Messenger in the highest company of Angels, and grant him peace and security—likewise to his family, Companions, and true followers.

[06/02/2026] The Correlation of the Qur’ān and the month of Ramaḍān – Sh Abu Fuḍayl ‘Abdur Raqīb حفظه الله. Khuṭbah at Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this Khuṭbah:

– Preparing ourselves for the blessed month of Ramadān.

– One of the reasons why Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى) has given this month its excellent virtues.

– “The month of Ramadān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:185]

– Following the example of the Messenger ﷺ in being diligent and giving importance to the Qur’ān in the month of Ramadān.

– Three essential matters obligated upon us as it relates to the Qur’ān.

– 1. Recitation of the Qur’ān is worship and a means of nearness to Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى).

– The multiplication of reward for the one who recites the Qur’ān sincerely.

– 2. Reflection upon the Book of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى).

– Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “Do they not then think deeply in the Qur’ān, or are their hearts locked up (from understanding it)?” [Sūrah Muhammad 47:24]

– A hadīth which indicates that the intent while reciting the Qur’ān should be to reflect upon it.

– Allāh’s (سبحانه وتعالى) praise of the people of Īmān whose hearts are affected by His Book.

– How the believer should be when reciting the Qur’ān.

– 3. Acting upon the Qur’ān.

– The one for whom the Qur’ān will be a proof for, and the one for whom it will be a proof against.

– “Verily, this Qur’ān guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward (Paradise).” [Sūrah al-Isrā’ 17:9]

– The true people of the Qur’ān.

– The intercession of Sūrah al-Baqarah and Sūrah Āli ‘Imrān on Yawm al-Qiyāmah.
