حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَرْضَى لَكُمْ ثَلاَثًا وَيَكْرَهُ لَكُمْ ثَلاَثًا فَيَرْضَى لَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلاَ تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَأَنْ تَعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلاَ تَفَرَّقُوا وَيَكْرَهُ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ ”
Abu Hurairah reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Points discussed within this Khutbah:
– Affirmation that Allāh becomes pleased, and the affairs He is pleased with.
– Affirmation that Allāh becomes displeased, and the affairs He is displeased with.
– It is from Allāh’s Blessings and Generosity upon His slaves that He informs them of what will bring about benefit for them.
– Purifying one’s soul and character can only be established by the worship of Allāh alone, with ikhlāṣ (sincerity) and following the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
– Islām is what connects you to your Lord.
– The resemblance of the words of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ with the Speech of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى).
– The believers should be aids and allies to one another upon the truth.
– The completion of Allāh’s Blessings upon the Muslim.
– The affairs that bring about the rectification of the Ummah.
– The affairs that bring about destruction, calamity and harm upon the individual and community.
– The harms and consequences brought about by way of the tongue.
– The believer covers the sins and shortcomings of his brothers and sisters.
– Concern yourself with yourself.

– The believer distances himself from the things that Allāh hates because with them are consequences (individual and collective).
– Affairs that oppose and contradict brotherhood.
– The importance of establishing the truth before narrating a matter.
– It is sufficient for an individual to be referred to as a liar that he narrates everything he hears.
– Proof for the prohibition of secret gatherings to discuss the affairs of others.
– The blameworthy nature of asking of the people without need.
– True tawakkul of the believer.
– Asking about affairs that have no benefit.
– The praiseworthy nature of asking about matters of knowledge to bring about guidance for oneself and others.

- The obligation of establishing the worship of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى).
- The obligation of distancing oneself from shirk.
- The obligation to cling to the Rope of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى) and the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
- The prohibition of differing and splitting.
- The prohibiting of gossip.
- The prohibition of asking from the creation without a need.
- The prohibition of wasting one’s wealth.
