Some points discussed during this lesson:

  • Praiseworthy qualities the Companions possessed before Islām.
  • Proof for the great importance of ikhlāṣ (sincerity).
  • Statements from the Salaf regarding ikhlāṣ. 
  • The one who deserves to be hated by Allāh. 
  • The danger of showing off.
  • The greatest affair the Muslim should be concerned with.
  • The state of the one who believes he has achieved ikhlāṣ.
  • Ways to help achieve ikhlāṣ:
  • Ad-Du’ā.
  • A dū’a ‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb (رضى الله عنه) would say and the du’ā taught to Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq (رضى الله عنه) by the Prophet.
  • Following the way of the Prophets, Messengers and Companions and not being deceived into thinking we cannot fall into (minor) shirk. 
  • To conceal one’s (good) actions.
  • A sign of ikhlāṣ. 
  • From the seven shaded on the Day of Judgement.
  • Bishr b. al-Ḥārith (رحمه الله) on concealing one’s good deeds. 
  • To always look at the actions of the righteous people who are greater than you.
  • The result of judging oneself in light of the people of this time.
  • The effect of reading the biographies of the righteous who came before.
  • To always belittle your action.
  • A sign that your action is rejected and a sign that it is accepted.
  • Seeking Allāh’s Forgiveness after performing a righteous action.
  • To fear the action will not be accepted by Allāh.
  • Keeping in mind the verse, “Allāh accepts only from those who are al-Muttaqūn.”
  • The response of the Messenger ﷺ when ‘Ā’ishah (رضى الله عنها) asked regarding who are referred to in the verse, {And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear, because they are sure to return to their Lord.}
  • Not to be affected by the speech of the people. 
  • How the one who is given success responds to the praise of the people.
  • Being indifferent to what the people say about you.
  • Ibn al-Jawzī (رحمه الله) on what leads to a person being raised.
  • To know for sure that the people are not able to enter you into Paradise or the Hellfire.
  • The outcome of seeking to be known and seen by the people.
  • You are going to be in the grave by yourself.
  • The futility of wanting to be seen and heard by the people. 
  • The fruits of seeking Allāh and the meeting with Him.

Questions:

  1. A question regarding the du’ā the Messenger ﷺ taught to Abū Bakr. 
  2. Is there a connection between the words ‘abd and ‘ibādah.
  3. What is the ruling on homeopathy? Is there any evidence for it?
  4. How are those who live in remote locations and have no access to the outside world judged?
  5. What are the best actions a child can do for a deceased parent?
