  1. Masha’Allah very beneficial lecture. May Allah preserve our brother Abu Khadeejah and reward him immensely for this new series of lectures on Ramadan. Allahumma Ameen.

  2. alhamdulillah a great book by our shaykh saalih al fouzan and good explanation by our elder brother abu khadeeja about the word “assiyaam” along with the obligation of intending the fast and the rewards for it,things that either gain you no reward or lessen your reward even though you fast and the two types of “FAJR” AND TO BE CONTINUED INSHALLAH (BRIEF OF PART ONE)

  3. Summary of Part 2:

Alhamdulillah completed the first two ahadith (#527 and #528 of the English Darussalam print) that included:

    1) Hadith #527 that states the prohibition of fasting 1 or 2 days prior to Ramadhan EXCEPT for the ones who fast routinely – that include fasting on white days, Mondays and Thursdays, alternate days, making up fast, in fulfillment of an oath.

    2) Fasting 1 or 2 days prior intending extra goodness becomes a bid’ah, that is Idaafiyah (the other being or Asliyah).
Asliyah: when there is no foundation for the act in the sharia’h at all. Idaafiyah: When there is a foundation in the sharia’h – i.e. correct but one adds into it something extra (as in this case) or does it in a manner not done in the time of the Prophet or his Companions.

    3) Mu’allaq hadith: Having a disconnected chain of narration. Marfoo’ hadith: That has been elevated/raised to be classed as the Prophets statement.

    4) In west the day and night carry the same date (29th day is followed by the 29th night) but for the arabs it changes (29th day is followed by 30th night). Solar calendar bear months of 30/31 days, while lunar calendar\hijri bears either 29\30 days,

    5) The day of shakk (doubt) i.e. the 30th of sha’baan; called so since it could have have been the 1st of Ramadhan if the moon was sighted. i.e. If the moon is looked for at the night of 29th (in the Western sense which is the night before the 30th day of Sha’baan) but due to cloudiness or dust not seen the next day is 30th of Sha’baan and not to be considered as 1st of Ramadhan – but IF the moon was sighted then it becomes the 1st of Ramadhan.

IF AN INDIVIDUAL IN ORDER TO AVOID MISSING OF THE FAST OF RAMADHAN FASTS THIS DAY THIS IS MENTIONED IN THE HADITH OF AMMAR BIN YASIR(#528) HE IS TO BE CONSIDERED AS DISOBEDIENT.

    6) Definitions: Ijmaa’ = consensus or all scholars), Jamhur = majority.
Permissibility of kunya without bearing children.

    7) The refutation of ignorant ones who say Shaykh Fawzaan is not to be called a Salafi aalim. He being a scholar in the Hanbali Madhhab but not a muqallid of the Madhhab, he is Salafi!

    8) And a few details of the views of Hanbali scholars from the books like Al-insaf and Zad-ul-Mustaqni.

    Barakallahufeekum
    Allaahu a’lam.

    • great notes , barakAllaahu feekum for sharin. may Allaah bless and preserve our brother aboo khadeejah and may Allaah preserve and bless our Shaykh , Shaykh fawzaan, for his great explanation and reward him immensely for his great work. Allaahumma ameen , great class recommend to family and friends inshaa Allaah

  4. Bismillah Ar Rahmaan Ar Rahmeem,

    Lesson 4:
It is not permissible to delay the breaking of the fast.
The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wassalam said “The people shall not cease to be upon goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast”.

It is from the Sunnah to break the fast with dates, or water if dates are not available, and then go to pray in the congregation.

One should not solely focus on the food and types of food they will eat over Ramadhaan. The purpose of Ramadhaan is that it is a month of ibaadah and istighfar.

I think everyone should listen to this series of lectures before Ramadhaan because they are highly beneficial. Being a Muslim born in Britain, It really did seem like the thing people most looked forward to in Ramadhaan while I was growing up was eating and more eating topped off with glugging down bottles of Coca Cola.

Over filling the stomach is an easy thing to fall into but in this lecture it is mentioned how to avoid such things and the harms of it are highlighted.

I was briefly aware of the mannerisms of breaking the fast, but I didn’t understand the importance of them and Alhumdulillah Abu Khadeejah clearly informs of the importance of following the Sunnah in all affairs.

  5. Barakallahu feekum May Allah reward abundantly, in this world and in the hereafter those who have worked hard to bring to the ummah this insightful lectures.

  6. Jazakallahukhayr wa barakallahufeek for the reminders. Much needed and much appreciated.

  7. May Allah reward good in this world and hereafter brother Abu Khadeejah for Ramadan Series.
